Description
Wukoki is an Anasazi ruin near Flagstaff, Arizona. It was an apartment building for the ancient people who lived here in the high desert. Unlike many of the ruins in the American Southwest, Wukoki is located on a hillock overlooking a vast stretch of the Colorado Plateau. Wukoki is arguably, a strategic location chosen for purposes observation. If there was a sentry atop the towers, intruders could be seen coming for miles off. Today there is little water to support agriculture, but in the times that the site was occupied, there was a small wash that most likely had sufficient water for those who lived and worked the area. The Hopi people consider this place sacred and periodically visit it to renew and enrich their personal understanding of Bear, Katsina, Lizard, Rattlesnake, Sand, Snow, and Water Clan history. The site is remote and gets few visitors. The solitariness of its location adds to the sense of mystery one experiences while visiting. On a cold day with a desert wind, it can be an eerie place to be.
All of my works are fine art photographs. The Fine Art America algorithms do not allow photos to be sold as original art so in order to offer the original piece, my work must be listed as digital art. My work offered as "original' means that I will not sell the image to anyone else. The purchaser is guaranteed a one of a kind image which can only be acquired through direct contact with me. The art photo is printed using the highest quality materials available today and is certified to be one of a kind. There are a number of factors that separate the work from production or giclee prints. I personally supervise the printing and control the source material. You are guaranteed a unique work of art.
I deeply and humbly appreciate all the kind words and support I receive about my work. The greatest compliment you can pay me is to share my work with others. Please share it on Facebook, on Twitter and other social media. Or, just send the url to a friend or family member who might enjoy seeing it in an email. Spread the word to any and all that you think will find what I do interesting and appealing.
Please contact me by email to order my recently published Acclaim Press book, Hermann, Missouri, One of the Prettiest Towns in America.
Watch my postings for announcements on two other photo books that are in the works including one that will contain Infrared images of the Southwestern U.S.
The Fine Art America Watermark will not appear on any products purchased.
