Description
The title comes from the Langston Hughes poem, but of course, this image is about a different kind of lost hope. Out on the prairie of the Eastern Plains of Colorado, some farmer or rancher tried and lost. The hull of what was once someone's dream is all that remains. The overgrown tumbleweeds, the snow and the angle of early morning light came together around this old, abandoned place to inspire my vision for this image. In some way, the ruin is analogous to the Anasazi ruins in that we do not know who lived here or why they left when they did. I did not trespass the ruin, but I am convinced that if I had, I would have found some artifacts of the lives of the former tenants. Perhaps a broken plate, a bullet casing, a kitchen trash pile containing old bottles, and Spam cans are still waiting for some scholar or just some curiosity seeker to come along and dig up to evaluate?
All of my works are fine art photographs. The Fine Art America algorithms do not allow photos to be sold as original art so in order to offer the original piece, my work must be listed as digital art. My work offered as "original' means that I will not sell the image to anyone else. The purchaser is guaranteed a one of a kind image which can only be acquired through direct contact with me. The art photo is printed using the highest quality materials available today and is certified to be one of a kind. There are a number of factors that separate the work from production or giclee prints. I personally supervise the printing and control the source material. You are guaranteed a unique work of art.
I deeply and humbly appreciate all the kind words and support I receive about my work. The greatest compliment you can pay me is to share my work with others. Please share it on Facebook, on Twitter and other social media. Or, just send the url to a friend or family member who might enjoy seeing it in an email. Spread the word to any and all that you think will find what I do interesting and appealing.
Please contact me by email to order my recently published Acclaim Press book, Hermann, Missouri, One of the Prettiest Towns in America.
Watch my postings for announcements on two other photo books that are in the works.

Great image that shows the isolation and barren landscape that may have led to it's demise. L,F,Pin
