The Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde is an iconic vista of the Southwest and one of the most recognized scenes in the National Park system. Anyone who visits Mesa Verde has dozens of photos of Cliff Palace, and I do as well. I tried in this image to capture the place in a way that would not be a visual clich�. On that point, I feel it succeeds. By composing my picture so that the ruins are shifted to the left of the frame and by bringing up the far mesa, I feel, the picture is a fresh version of the Cliff Palace.
