Description
Maynard Dixon painted scenes of the Southwest for more than 50 years. He began as an illustrator in San Francisco and later became known for his canvases, many of which were scenes from Utah. He lived and worked in Mount Carmel, not far from what were to become Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. He had a close association with the renowned watercolorist Milford Zornes who later bought Dixon's Mount Carmel home and studio. I studied with Milford and remained friends with him until his death in 2008. Both Maynard and Milford's ashes are scattered on the hillside overlooking the studio where they both had worked. Today it is a museum open for self-guided tours and it is operated by the Thunderbird Foundation of Mount Carmel, Utah. The orchard is adjacent the studio and the apples are among the finest I have ever eaten.
All of my works are fine art photographs. The Fine Art America algorithms do not allow photos to be sold as original art so in order to offer the original piece, my work must be listed as digital art. My work offered as "original' means that I will not sell the image to anyone else. The purchaser is guaranteed a one of a kind image which can only be acquired through direct contact with me. The art photo is printed using the highest quality materials available today and is certified to be one of a kind. There are a number of factors that separate the work from production or giclee prints. I personally supervise the printing and control the source material. You are guaranteed a unique work of art.
I deeply and humbly appreciate all the kind words and support I receive about my work. The greatest compliment you can pay me is to share my work with others. Please share it on Facebook, on Twitter and other social media. Or, just send the url to a friend or family member who might enjoy seeing it in an email. Spread the word to any and all that you think will find what I do interesting and appealing.
Please contact me by email to order my recently published Acclaim Press book, Hermann, Missouri, One of the Prettiest Towns in America.
Watch my postings for announcements on two other photo books that are in the works including one that will contain Infrared images of the Southwestern U.S.
The Fine Art America Watermark will not appear on any products purchased.
