Artist's Description

Ventana is Spanish for window. The Chaco Culture Historical Park in Northwestern New Mexico is one of the most stunning architectural ruin sites in the Americas. It is largely overlooked because it so off the beaten path as to make it considered too inaccessible for most casual tourists. It is 21 miles from New Mexico Highway 550. The route includes 8 miles of paved road on CR 7900 and CR7950, 13 miles of rough dirt road on CR7950, followed by the last very rough 4 1/2 miles of rutted unpaved road before entering the park. Artists have been accused of being self aggrandizing, long winded, name droppers. I hate it when the critics get it right! In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...
