Star Mill Nocturne
This iconic four and one half story building in Hermann, Missouri has served as a mill, a machine shop and a warehouse for wine. It was built in 1867 at a cost of $40,000. The building housed the first steam powered grist mill in the region. It was co-owned by wealthy merchants Mattais Kochele and Henry Reitemeyer. Hermann, an old river town, is now known for its wineries. You can still get here by train, the Amtrack Missouri River Runner travels daily between St. Louis and Kansas City stops here.
