Artist's Description
There are a number of studies throughout the history of art that deal with the bath, bathers and bathing. I was inspired by my beautiful model and by all the artists who came before me to make a picture that speaks of the bath. The tub is a jarra wood tub that I built myself from a kit. It is four feet deep and six feet in diameter. It is heated with a swimming pool sized heater that has the ability to take the water temperature from 33 degrees Fahrenheit to 105 in about twenty minutes. We often spend cold nights looking at the stars and counting meteors. It is a delight in rain and in snow. There is the part about getting in and back out though. Surprisingly, getting out isn't nearly as bad because one's core temperature is raised and the cold doesn't feel all that bad as long as there is a towel nearby and a robe. And if you're wondering, we don't wear swimsuits.

Artists have been accused of being self aggrandizing, long winded, name droppers. I hate it when the critics get it right! In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...
