V/F Very touching story! Stories like this inspires the greatest artwork, it give it an dimension that mass production can duplicate ..it gives it a soul! That give it so much more value in my eyes . Thank for sharing that story. and the work. Mason has a cool face what a champ! :-D

Bill, what a heartfelt story and so good you and your wife to foster him. Great news he has a home and he owes that to the two of you. Great photo, vote.

Artist's Description

The undying devotion of a companion animal and a dog in particular is found in the eyes of this old gent. His name is Mason and he graced our house for awhile. His mistress died and he was to be put down. My wife brought him home and we fostered him until we could find a suitable home. Mason was 11 at the time and we didn't think the prospects were good. We were willing to keep him if no one came forward. He suffered a little arthritis and had trouble climbing as one of his rear legs just wouldn't make the move. I began giving him a daily aspirin and walking him regularly. He seemed to improve almost immediately. A very nice couple did finally adopt him. By the time they did Mason was able to run and actually jump a little. On the day the couple came to get him, he hopped right up into their back seat unassisted. He sure was a sweetie. I'm so grateful that he came into our lives and he most certainly had me at WOOF!

I try to put everything I have learned from every great teacher and through every mistake I have made into each and every piece with as much passion as I have for art and for life itself. Artists have been accused of being self aggrandizing, long winded, name droppers. I hate it when the critics get it right! In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...
