Artist's Description
The snowberry clearwing moth is an imposter. He/she resembles a bee in appearance and a hummingbird in behavior. The creature hovers over and beside blossoms sucking nectar during daylight hours. These seemingly odd behaviors are its survival strategy. Birds avoid the moth because it seems to be something else. The moth is an example of nature perpetrating identity theft.

Artists have been accused of being self aggrandizing, long winded, name droppers. I hate it when the critics get it right! In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...

William I like this photo one of my favorite plants Monarda, the close up of the moth is great I have never seen one. Great shot. The information you gave was very interesting I enjoyed it as well. Voted
William Fields replied:
Thanks Sue and thanks for visiting and voting. It means a lot to me. I'm glad you enjoyed the little blurb. I really feel that the opportunity to talk a little about each picture increases the entertainment value for the visitors. I know, I really like to read the artist's thoughts when I visit other pictures. Thanks again.
