Snapper canvas print by William Fields. Bring your artwork to life with the texture and depth of a stretched canvas print. Your image gets printed onto one of our premium canvases and then stretched on a wooden frame of 1.5" x 1.5" stretcher bars (gallery wrap) or 5/8" x 5/8" stretcher bars (museum wrap). Your canvas print will be delivered to you "ready to hang" with pre-attached hanging wire, mounting hooks, and nails.

Artist's Description
Gyotaku is the traditional fish printing process used in Japan to record a fisherman's catch. The fish is inked, a piece of rice or mulberry paper is carefully laid over the fish and the image is transferred through rubbing and patting. The eye is usually removed prior to the printing process as it would just be a black blob if printed. Eyes are hand painted after the print is dry. The finished prints often are hung from strings suspended from the ceiling in bait and tackle shops. The two fish in this print were made using the same animal. It was a type of sea bass called red snapper in California. Although, it is not a true red snapper.
