Artist's Description

In the Woody Allen movie "Manhattan" there are a couple of memorable lines having to do with pigeons. In one instance he said "I think people should mate for life like pigeons or Catholics." But, it was his zinger about pigeons being "rats with wings" that has created an almost universal perception that pigeons are vermin. The power of Woody's words is so potent, a society and a blog have been created called People for the Preservation of Pigeons. The blog is loaded with people who are outraged by Woody's quote that, by the way, dates to 1979!

In my picture, the melts in your mouth, not in your hand cartoon character is a window washer who is beating off a hapless pigeon while suspended above Manhattan on staging. The sculpture is in the M&M store near Times Square.
