Description
My wife's parents live on Paul Street in Pocahontas, Arkansas. This picture was taken at 5:30 am as I was taking my dog out for her constitutional. As I looked up the street, I was taken by the quality of light in the predawn hours. The image isn't about anything in particular, but it is about a time of day, a kind of light, a mood and a place in anyone's hometown.
Please feel free to share the picture on this page and any of my other photos with friends, family and associates.

Beautiful scene William in the dead of night. I can your footsteps amidst the silence of the night. Lovely! v/g+
William Fields replied:
Thanks very much Barbara! The reason you'd be able to hear my footsteps is because my feet are so big!!

Wonderful tranquil scene with a deep feeling of small town community as Cheri stated. I like the color and grit/texture and the mood is pleasing. f/v

William, your photograph could easily represent many small communities across the Country at this hour. It gives a sense of peaceful security of neighbors who know and care about one another. voted

very nice! i walk often in the early morning and love the peace and quiet. AND the smell of donuts from the donut shop. V. Happy new year!
William Fields replied:
Thanks Joan! It's funny how the things we smell become as much a part of our memories as the things we see. Years ago, I would do a morning run (many years ago) and the smell of fresh baked bread coming from a bakery was one of my distinct memories of those runs. I don't know if I could tell you about what the buildings in the neighborhoods looked like but I can still remember the smell of the bread.
