Artist's Description
Not yet the tingling flood of blue and gold
Is poured through heaven, but o'er the misty pond,
Quiet as patterned silk, flushed saplings lean;
And the auspicious green
Through the deep woods and on the unpathed wold
Brightens in patient moss and wistful frond.
From the poem From Spring to Spring by Katherine Lee Bates who, by the way, wrote lyrics to America the Beautiful
Along Highway 100 just west of New Haven, Missouri there's an old house that was once a tavern. The pond is visible from the road driving by. It is truly one of the prettiest spots around.

Artists have been accused of being self aggrandizing, long winded, name droppers. I hate it when the critics get it right! In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...

William Fields replied:
Thank you Kate. You were up late. Your post went up at 1 am here. That would make it 11 pm there. I shot several variations of this image and some other stuff at the same locale. I don't usually like such an even division of space (equal sky and water), but this one spoke.
