Description
These two buildings are on the National Register of Historic Buildings in Hermann, Missouri. The building in the foreground is owned by Attorney Dennis Barks and houses his law practice. I do not know the provenance for this building but I will update this page when I get more information. The far building is a museum that was once a school where the local children were taught in German. It was the German School.

William, nice capture of the vintage architecture, giving us a glimpse into life lived at a slower pace, perhaps at the turn of the last century. I'm wondering if the Law practice building might have been a former dry goods store, where clothing and other items were displayed in the front windows. Voted
William Fields replied:
I'm pretty sure you're right Cheri. I'll call the owner and ask. Will let you know. Thanks very much for your comment and support
Sharon Duguay
Great image ,looks like a lot of History in this old building V
William Fields replied:
Thanks Sharon, in both of them actually. The far building is the old German School. Years ago, all the kids in town attended and classes were taught in, you guessed it, German
Scott Hansen
Very nice detail, love the rafters underneath the balcony! v
William Fields replied:
Thank you Scott. The place is restored top to bottom. A friend owns the place. Still working on him to buy a print; )
Kate Brown
Great image and treatment! v
William Fields replied:
Kate thanks! I was on my way to the post office when I noticed a storm coming in. I looked up the street and saw this composition. Grabbed my camera and was standing in the middle of the street refining the composition. Cars just stopped and waited patiently. No one beeped. That's just the way it is in Hermann.
