Artist's Description
O'er which the cloud's broad shadow swiftly glides,
And interlacing slopes that gently merge
Into the pearly mist of ocean's verge.
From the poem Address to a Steam Vessel by Joanna Baillie
Meig’s Point is an area at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut. It is a little removed from the main beach. That and the fact that it is much rockier than the main beach make it a place where a little peace and solitude can be found even on busy summer days.

In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...

the sparkles make a pathway to...somewhere....V
William Fields replied:
To Long Island actually Joan. The water on the Connecticut shore isn't open ocean but Long Island Sound. Long Island stretches the full length of Connecticut. The open ocean only comes in around the Island. On very clear days, one can see the island.
