Fav, Vote, and Tweeted to over 13,700 who follow our tweets. Looking at this, believe it could also be flipped horizontally, and make two images to display. Personally do not have "visual images" so cant tell, as I have to do that, to actually see what it would look like. There is no "law" which states it should not be done. ;) Sometimes find that we prefer them flipped, even when its a painting.

William Fields replied:

Thanks N&B

William Fields replied:

N&B, just some ruminatioins from a compulsive yakker: In California there is a law on the books under the title "Artist's Intent" There was a landmark law suit when an abstract painter sued a collector for displaying his work in the "wrong" orientation. I'm not championing this but I have found myself in situations when I wished that I could be more assertive about something a collector had done with one of my pieces. I'm not rich enough to make that kind of noise. Another story: I studied Chinese brush with a man who was a reknowned, fifth generation horse painter. He told me a story about his master coming for a visit. He had selected a group of paintings to show the old man and among them was a very abstract looking landscape that my teacher was very proud of. When the master came to that painting he went on and on about what an incredible work it was. When my teacher approached to see which painting the master spoke of he saw that it was this abstract piece that he so liked himself. Then he noticed that the old man had it upside down. He did not correct him.

William, your image is a fine companion for the Walt Whitman . . . both give us a glimpse of pride in workmanship. voted

William Fields replied:

Thank you Cheri! Uncle Walt has been an important part of my life for many years. I keep a copy of Leaves of Grass handy. I expect, if I'm ever found dead, it will be with the book open to some passage.

classic Americana, great shot William

William Fields replied:

Thanks Bill! It was one that I didn't think much about as I was going through what I had shot that day. A little later, as I kept passing it in the archives, it sort of stepped up and said, "Here I am. What are you going to do with me?" Finally listened.
