Fangorn, also known as Treebeard, the ent
In the J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy, Lord of the Rings, among the oldest beings are the animate tree creatures known as ents. Fangorn or Treebeard is one of the oldest and wisest of the Ents. He comes to the rescue of our aspiring heroes, the hobbits Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took.
This tree resides in a front yard in Florida. If ever a tree resembled a being, this is it. The tree behaves as if it is willful. It can�t be seen in the photo but the Fangorn tree completely enveloped and destroyed a palm.
