Artist's Description

Darkness, darkness, be my pillow,
Take my hand, and let me sleep.
In the coolness of your shadow,
In the silence, the silence of your deep.

Cover me with the endless night
From the song Darkness, Darkness by Jesse Colin Young

It is a hidden away area that is somewhat forgotten. The brown residue on the walls and ceiling is, I believe, badly deteriorated acoustic spray. The subject matter is just plain ugly. I'm drawn to that at times. I am sure there must be some deep rooted psychological explanation for why I find beauty in imperfection. I have always been attracted to a car with a rough paint job; a dog with three legs that can hold its own; a pretty girl with a space between her teeth or a largish nose. I try to put everything I have learned from every great teacher and through every mistake I have made into each and every piece with as much passion as I have for art and for life itself. In an attempt to diffuse those kinds of accusations, regardless of how accurate they may be, I am writing this statement today. Each picture I make begins with a germ of an idea. I visualize how I...
