The Audrey II in my picture is, of course, not a flesh eating plant like the one in the movie Little Shop of Horrors. It is a paphiopedilum orchid on display at Missouri Botanical Garden as a part of their Madagascar Orchid show on display until March 31st. Although the orchid does look as if it could eat someone, it is assuredly benign. The paphiopedilum genus is native to Southern China, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and India. They are relatively easy to grow at home and provide a stunning display when in bloom.

Audrey II is beautiful William! Rich and rather regal looking. She may be benign, but if she could talk I think she might say "Off with his head!". Great capture! v
