The historic Peers Store will soon be an art gallery featuring my photographs and the work of four other artists. Please stop by to see us. I have been photographing this more than 100 year old store recently in anticipation of the grand opening on June 25th 2015 in celebration of 25th year anniversary of the opening of the Katy Trail. At 237 miles, the Katy is the longest rails to trails project in the United States. The Peers Store sits right on the trail along highway 94 in the scenic Missouri River Valley and is a project of the Katy Land Trust whose aim is the preservation and conservation of farms and forests along the Katy Trail. This is a quirky, painterly interpretation of the subject. In the past, I was working this way for some time, but gravitated away from it into less stylized work. I'm interested in how people react to this.
