The Colorado River stretches across the landscape and graces the world near Moab with deep canyons, red rock or Entrada sandstone and buff colored Navajo sandstone. The land was part of a great inland sea at one time and there is a foundation of liquefied salt that comes to the surface in salt domes Arches National Park is awash with formations that are the consequence of erosion to the sandstone deposits. This scene shows a formation known as the Parade of Elephants.
