At the true dawn of the year
When the vernal equinox has come
There are small, yet significant
Indications of life
First spring beauties carpet meadows then
The forest floor dons its dutchman’s breeches
The service berry trees bloom white popcorn
Soft, warm April rain bathes every bud, leaf and twig
The fields are dressed in purple blankets of henbit
Suddenly, its as if the Gods have finally listened
And the Earth Now Awakens
