Artist's Description

At Acoma Pueblo, the mesa that the Sky City is built upon is considered sacred, but so are the other stone tables that surround it. This is one among many that are part of the Acoma sacred landscape. During religious events such as the Corn Dance, which is a plea to the spirits for rain, tribal religious leaders place, certain religious articles out on mesa tops at distances of several miles in a certain pattern. It is believed that these items help guide the rain spirits and ultimately the rain clouds, into Acoma from the West. It's the same principle, as runway lights at an airport.

All of my works are fine art photographs. The Fine Art America algorithms do not allow photos to be sold as original art so in order to offer the original piece, my work must be listed as digital art.
