Artist's Description
A Missouri River island in the early morning mist is the backdrop for this landscape that captures the historic context of the land where I live and practice my art. Lewis and Clark came by this spot on their way west and again, on their way home. So too, it has been passed by thousands of others who followed them. Yet, the place, could be as it was seen by the earliest Native Americans. Imagine a time some 12 thousand years or so gone when a hunter following game to the river might have stopped at this spot to drink the water and contemplate the view. It is primordial in nature and painted in gentle tones by my camera that allow one to envision how things might have been in times gone by.
