I loved the perspective created by the leaf strewn pathway leading up to this 30s or 40s vintage lake house. The atmosphere created by the early morning fog from Lake Michigan cinched it for me. It pulled together all the emotional stuff I have accumulated over a lifetime of going to lake and shore cottages. When I was about 10 years old, one of my uncles won big on a horse race. He used the money to buy a cottage at a lake in Northwestern Connecticut. I would go with him to clean the place up and we'd swim in the lake to cool off on hot afternoons. His cottage didn't have indoor plumbing except for a pump in the kitchen and this place reminds me of it so much.
