From the South Rim of Grand Canyon. One of the vistas that shows the Colorado River cutting through the canyon. No one knows with certainty the reason all these magnificent formations exist. We do have a pretty good idea though. In short, it’s water. Erosion, primarily by water, ice, wind and other forces contributed to the Canyon's formation. The path of the Colorado River itself, vulcanism, continental drift and slight variations in the orbit of earth which in turn causes variations in seasons and climate are all among the most likely causes.
