The Sangre de Cristo, or Blood of Christ Mountains run north and south along the east side of the Rio Grande Rift. This image was near La Veta on US Highway 160 that traverses southern Colorado. I was captivated by the shadows cast by clouds on the landscape and shot dozens of frames. It took me months to settle on this one to represent the way I saw the day.
