the black and white does seem timeless, I agree. Sometimes I find that the most colorful pictures end up looking better in black and white for some reason. V

William Fields replied:

Thanks Joan, appreciate it. I often see gorgeous monochromes in your portfolio as well. It's sort of a retro direction, but I like it.

William, so creative to process your subject, which ordinarily would be brilliant with color, in a monochromatic color palette, so that your viewers can focus on each feather and the intricate design of his particular signature. Nice tie-in with "Casablanca"! voted

William Fields replied:

Cheri, thanks for those thoughts. I have to tell you I was really torn just because the bird was so colorful. I, in fact, did a color version as well and may at some future time post it. Part of the decision to go with the monochrome was the tie-in with Casablanca. My mind is filled with the scenes from the film, in part, because I've had the good fortune to see it on the big screen a few times.

awesome, awesome image ... I loved reading your background about Casa Blanca and where your idea for the title came from. One of my all time favorite movies. Also, must tell you I was on the Tamiami Trail as a little girl with my parents ... and the lyrical name remains in my memories, even if the trail itself no longer does!!!! Great image ... great read!!! I enjoyed my visit with you!!!!!! f/v

William Fields replied:

Thanks so very much Lois. I love it when a picture offers connections with personal experiences. When I opted to drive the Tamiami it was a conscious decision to stay off the interstate and be closer to what in my mind is the "real" Florida. I wasn't disappointed and would never have found this lovely avian on I-75.
