Description
This is another in the Foggy Morning series that I am currently working on. The flowers grow at the base of a massive oak tree outside my kitchen window. I was attracted as much by the mood created by the fog as I was by the colorful display made by these flowers.
Every spring there are patches of bluebells throughout our woods. In an area very near the one shown, I buried two fine dogs. They were Russian wolfhounds and died within a week of each other. Their names were Sabaka who was our precious girl and her gentle but distant companion Logan.
After I dug their graves and buried them, I covered them up with rocks as large as I could carry to the site. With time the mounds that I made have recessed to become flush with the surrounding ground.
And, each year in the spring the graves are covered with bluebells. I cannot help but cry when I see these beautiful harbingers of spring and think about the many walks we had in these woods with our good dogs.
