Description
Dr. Percy Holland-Glennon Took was filled with anxiety as he sensed something was demonically amiss in the nether reaches of his hospital. He tore into the boiler room in time to hear the tell-tale hiss of an impending explosion. In a moment of lucidity he covered himself in the lead lined closet that held the isotope for his xray machine. The brief exposure to irradiation was infinitely more preferable to the potentially cooked flesh he would have experienced as a result of exposure to the violently escaping steam.
A Steam Punks musing by William Fields
Because of the experimental commotion the hissing was all but deafening the testers failed to hear the preemptive warnings of Kleinhoff, who shouted from a fruit tree while fighting an onslaught of dread smotherflies. Nor did the testers hear the battle cry of Catherine, who interrupted her conversation with Marie-Louise to alert the pair. And because the steam rising from the testing pots filled the workroom alcove with a thick mist, neither Claude nor the Abbe observed their enemy until it was too late.
From A Case of Curiosities by Alan Kurzweil
This still life is a box of bits I found in an old shed on a long forgotten farm. It has a "Steampunk" feel about it and would make a welcome addition to the rooms of industrial sci-fi aficionados.

Interesting piece William! I actually like the dried leaves mixed of same colour in with metal. Makes for an interesting contrast. Voted!

The bottom of my tool box.. Great texture and collections of old bolts, nuts, gears and plumbing stubs. The pitted effect give prehistoric a new dimension. Like It William.. Very creative.. V,F Charlie

The processing is fabulous, William...love it that the leaves are as rusty as the nuts and bolts and gears...a thoroughly rich tapestry...v/f!
